SHAPES! Radio Ready with SYN Radio

Shapes! Is a new series of gigs and workshops for teens (13 to 17 year-olds).

Ready to dive into the world of radio? Join us for Radio Ready with SYN Radio, an engaging workshop where you’ll learn the essential skills for creating professional podcast and radio content! In this session, we’ll cover everything from preparing a run sheet and interview script to mastering the art of recording with a Zoom recorder. You’ll also gain hands-on experience recording a vox-pop and conducting a mock interview. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this workshop will equip you with the tools and confidence to create your own radio or podcast segment.

After this workshop, you will then have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice and interview the bands at the Shapes! gig featuring Betty Taylor and Gnome on Sunday 29 June.

Student Youth Network (SYN 90.7fm) is Melbourne’s oldest and largest youth-led community radio station. We believe young people should be creators, not just consumers of media.

Since its first broadcast in 2003, SYN has been a training ground for the likes of Hamish Blake, Andy Lee, Zan Rowe, Bridget Hustwaite and Anika Luna, who are among the thousands of influential creatives and versatile media professionals who claim to have made their start at SYN. Now based in RMIT’s City campus, we continue to live in the heart of Melbourne’s thriving youth culture, with 300+ volunteers, aged 12-25, driving SYN’s alternative sound.
