Shaken or stirred: The Melbourne Cocktail Festival is back

Melbourne Cocktail Festival
words by staff writer

Bottoms up!

Fat-wash, clarified milk punch, polibibita – if these words mean anything to you, you’re going to want to make sure you don’t miss the Melbourne Cocktail Festival.

Running from September 18 to 24, the annual event celebrates the art of mixology with a week full of events, workshops and the beloved Bar Safari. It’s still getting drunk, but it’s getting drunk with class.

In its third iteration, the event has announced that this year will be the biggest yet. The Bar Safari, running the entire duration of the festival, gives locals and visitors alike a chance to try out some of the best cocktail bars in the city at a heavily discounted price.

A $20 ticket gives visitors a complimentary cocktail from the MCF hub (located at Double Happiness) as well as access to exclusive $15 cocktails from over 40 bars throughout the CBD and inner north. The list includes favourites such as Bar Clara, Bar Margaux, Farmer’s Daughters, Cutler & Co, and Rice Paper Scissors.

The festival will also feature a ton of yet-to-be-announced hands-on masterclasses on mixology and spirits, product launches, bar take-overs and so much more.
