Your Love swings and pops effortlessly, with Nkechi Anele’s hearty vocal set right back in the mix, just under the sunny sprays of brass and the skipping bass line. If they have a fault, it’s just that their diligent homage sticks too closely to the script. No rehab or Tanqueray for this Melbourne collective, just the safe and well-worn tropes of classic soul, as evidenced in the lyrics: “I’ve tried to find a way to free myself from pain, and you came along and showed me how to love again.” Think I’ve heard that one before.
