Remixer Scott Solter has made a fierce industrial monster of Mirror Girl by “Danish spectral noise rock quartet” Salli Lunn, another curious and arresting release from Perth’s Hidden Shaol Recordings, one of the most adventurous labels in the country. Vastly improving the angular but heavily grunge-influenced original, Scott has cranked the bass to heavy distortion levels, ramped up the snare and separated out the sounds to create a menacing, minimalist threat of a song that sits somewhere between Nine Inch Nails and Aphex Twin.
