Capturing the universal emotional rollercoaster that has resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, ‘ALIVE’ melds intensely personal songwriting with striking, broken beat percussion.

“It’s a heavier song in some ways, but at its core it’s hopeful. We are – all of us – living in this transitional moment right now and we wanted to focus on the hope that the future holds for us all. To focus on the light at the end of this tunnel,” said lead vocalist, Tyrone Lindqvist of the single.

To that end, Lindqvist’s lyrics focus on the feeling of burdened optimism, with the song always coming back to “At least I’m alive”.

Not so much a new direction but a progression of their signature sound, the track keeps the darkness that’s been so consistent in their past releases while adding brightness and a polished finish.

Partially inspired by the lack of live performances over the past year and a half, the track was largely envisioned to be a live anthem.

A means of reintroducing the trio, RÜFÜS DU SOL’s new single hints their upcoming music will be more dancefloor-oriented.
