Roscoe James Irwin’s Soul-Jazz Special

Vocalist, trumpeter, producer, arranger and songwriter, Roscoe James Irwin has long been one of Australia’s most in-demand musical masterminds. Don’t miss his debut show at The Count’s featuring his swinging band.

Irwin’s fingerprints can be found across an extraordinary array of projects, from collaborations with Paul Kelly, Passenger, The Cat Empire, Kate Ceberano, Kutcha Edwards, and Angus & Julia Stone, to performances alongside international icons such as Brian May and Roger Taylor (Queen), Suzi Quatro, Harry Connick Jr, and Stax legend Eddie Floyd.

As a solo artist and composer, Irwin has carved a reputation for creating lush, cinematic worlds of sound — weaving jazz, soul and orchestral textures with heartfelt storytelling. His solo projects, as well as his work with the nation’s top symphony orchestras and contemporary artists showcase a rare artistic depth, blending melancholy and euphoria in equal measure.

For his first ever solo performance at The Count’s, Irwin will sing and play trumpet, joined by an all-star lineup of Melbourne’s best. Together they’ll explore Irwin’s interpretations of his favourite Soul, Gospel, New Orleans Jazz and early Rhythm & Blues works — a fun, immersive night of masterful musicianship from one of Australia’s true musical polymaths.
