Sandwiched between a gig at The Forum and their upcoming European tour, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever are coming to The Brunswick Ballroom for a very special show on April 23.

Hometown boys done good, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever are one of the best acts to come out of Melbourne in the past decade and they’ve become critical darlings with the acclaimed releases Hope Downs and Sideways to New Italy.

The latter peaked at number four on the ARIA charts, earning the group rave reviews for track after track that blossomed with breezy layers of melancholic acoustic guitar, yet retained the sense of urgency or a subtle pop hook.”

Rolling Blackouts CF have just finished an Australian tour in support of the latter album, so this is a chance to see them in their element, in the suburb that spawned them, performing old and new cuts. They’ll even be including slices of their eagerly-anticipated forthcoming third LP Endless Rooms, released May 6 via Sub Pop / Ivy League.

It will also be your best chance to catch them before they head overseas to perform their biggest headline gigs and coveted festival slots at Primavera, Lollapalooza and Tomavistas.

If you’ve seen Rolling Blackouts before, you’ll know they excel in the live environment, with our review of one of the band’s last Melbourne shows noting the group’s huge energy on stage: “The five-piece were buzzing with energy from the get-go, embellishing the track with extra instrumentals and deliciously lavish guitar solos. This carried on throughout the entire set as one track effortlessly melded into another, bound together with short interludes and displays of fantastic musicianship. They’re definitely the kind of band that thrive off a live music environment, with each member getting the chance to really display his instrumental proficiency.”
