There’s intriguing dissonance within Roland Tings constructions, bridging between early AM club beats and sun-blessed afternoon grooves, finding a place in either realm while invoking the mood of both. Pala is a pearler, sprawling while never diminishing momentum, harnessing a palpable Italo-disco heart, elevating to constantly building peaks to the extent where eight minutes 19 seconds doesn’t feel like enough. Roland Tings’ self-titled debut LP is out about now-ish.
