Taking live music from one lounge room to another.

The brains behind Riverboats Music Festival have announced a new live streamed performance series, The Lounge Room Sessions, launching this week.

Each night at 8pm, an Australian act will perform a 20-minute set from their lounge room which will be broadcast via Facebook Live. Due to kick off on Wednesday March 25, the series will feature performances from the likes of Matt Walker, Skyscraper Stan, Gabriella Cohen and Matt Joe Gow.

While viewers can access the performances for free, donations are encouraged, with links for donations to be provided alongside each live stream. 100 per cent of funds raised through the series will be paid directly to the artists.

“In unprecedented times such as these we can despair or we can innovate, and with that in mind we’ve decided to launch a platform to support the artists who have supported us,” said Riverboats Music Festival Director David Frazer.

“None of us know what the next few months will hold, and we have no idea if this concept will make a tangible contribution to the artists we love – but doing something has to be better than doing nothing,” he said.
