Readings are offering free book delivery across Melbourne

Self-isolating just got a little better.

With many Melburnians self-isolating or practicing social distancing in a bid to help stop the spread of coronavirus, people are likely to be spending a lot more time indoors than usual.

While Netflix and the internet are good for killing time, it’s important to take care of yourself, stay productive and nurture your hobbies during these dark and uncertain times.

To curb your boredom, Readings are offering free local delivery to Melbourne bookworms.

After being forced to suspend their events program and close their State Library store, as well as facing less foot traffic, Readings Managing Director Mark Rubbo has issued a statement asking readers to support local businesses throughout this difficult period.

“Perhaps now’s the time to go to your nursery and hardware shop to start or finish those projects you haven’t had time for, attend to those odd jobs and, of course, to support your local bookshop.,” said Rubbo.

“If you don’t some of us may not emerge at the end of all this. We’ve got bills and wages to pay and we can’t do that if we don’t have income,” he added.

“Readings has been around for 51 years and we plan to be around for a lot longer thanks to your support.”

You can call up one of the Readings stores to make your order or check out their catalogue and make your pick online. If you’re ordering online, be sure to add a note stating ‘LOCAL’ and your suburb.

Happy reading!
