Talk about getting stuck into art – or your head in the clouds
Talk about getting stuck into art – or your head in the clouds.
Matsuri Yamana’s quirky sculpture The Cloud proves you don’t have to know much about art to really get inside a sculpture. The RMIT art student’s mass of cotton floats inside RMIT Gallery and invites visitors to climb inside. The young Japanese artist, on an exchange at RMIT University, is one of 46 finalists in the annual Siemens-RMIT Fine Art Awards. The exhibition runs at RMIT Gallery until January 8. This year eight winners took out a total of $32,000 in prize money. Past winners include the 2010 Archibald and Wynne Landscape Painting Prize winner Sam Leach.
