Calling all queers and music lovers! Queers to the Front, presented by the Moonee Valley Greens in support of their campaign for local government, will see the Moonee Ponds Bowling Club transformed into a vibrant celebration of the local queer community and music scene in the west.
Queers to the Front will feature local shoegaze, grunge, and queer rock sensation Moaning Lisa, renowned for their queer anthem “Carrie (I Want a Girl).” Moaning Lisa have appeared on festival stages like Splendour in the Grass, Spilt Milk, Falls Festival and more. On tour they have supported artists like Mitski (US), Midnight Oil and RIDE (UK). Now back and better than ever, the band looks forward to the release of their sophomore album, on the back of the release of their latest single ‘Wayside’. The band will be appearing for a rare acoustic performance.
They’re joined by fellow headliner drag artist icon Tilly Capulet, whose politically charged performances are a must-see. The stellar lineup also includes transfemme singer and drag artist Melissa Intent, and a rare solo set from intersex/non-binary musician Max Aurora of the band The Southern Lights, promising a showcase of some of the best LGBTQI+ talent around.
Hosting the evening will be activist and comedian Sarah Bartolo, along with Moonee Valley Greens local council candidates: local queer, activist and mother, Jodie Kinnersley, and ally and arts advocate Declan McGinness. Former Greens Senator Janet Rice will also make a special appearance as we celebrate the Greens’ proud legacy of LGBTQIA+ advocacy.
The event will also feature community stalls held by local LGBTQIA+ artists. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a vibrant community dedicated to creating positive change—join us for a party Moonee Valley style!
