Queenscliff Music Festival adds comedy legends and immersive art to 2025 lineup

Words by staff writer

Queenscliff Music Festival continues expanding its offerings with comedy stars Claire Hooper and Lizzy Hoo joining the seaside celebration.

Victoria’s beloved seaside festival has unveiled another exciting wave of additions to its 2025 program. Running across three days on Wadawurrung Country, Queenscliff Music Festival promises an eclectic mix of music, comedy, interactive art installations and family entertainment that goes well beyond traditional festival boundaries.

Comedy takes centre stage with two of Australia’s most celebrated performers leading the laughs. Claire Hooper brings over two decades of entertainment experience, fresh from her award-winning 2024 show So Proud and the launch of her new ABC series Claire Hooper’s House of Games. Her razor-sharp wit and storytelling expertise promise to captivate audiences in the historic coastal setting.

Joining Hooper is stand-up sensation Lizzy Hoo, whose self-assured observational comedy has made her a favourite on shows like Have You Been Paying Attention and The Weekly. Comedy continues with Nick Schuller’s acerbic wit, Tess Birch’s sharp intelligence, Ben Searle’s relatable charm, and Nick Capper’s wonderfully odd antics.

Music lovers can expect dynamic soundscapes courtesy of some exceptional record selectors. Cool Out Sun DJs will deliver Afro-soul rhythms, while PBS Radio’s Miss Goldie brings her renowned groove expertise. Fee B Squared and Mz Rizk add genre-defying energy, with local Surf Coast talent Dangerboots and producer Rob Major ensuring the dance floors stay packed.

Beyond music and comedy, immersive experiences transform the festival grounds into creative wonderlands. Playable Streets invites participation through Musical Plants installations and reflective art pieces. Slow Art Collective reshapes spaces into communal creativity hubs featuring weaving and music-making. After dark, Cosmic Wilderness illuminates the town with animated projections inspired by local flora and fauna.

Community connection thrives through Chorus Club singalongs and Imaginary Millions Jam Sessions where poetry, music and spontaneity collide. Yoga with Live Music offers moments of seaside tranquillity.

Children’s programming returns bigger than ever alongside headliners Teeny Tiny Stevies and Peter Coombe. Bebop Circus brings acrobatic entertainment, Giant Seagulls provide roving fun, and Guru Dudu’s Silent Disco gets everyone moving. Additional family favourites include Krazy Koala Puppet Show, Marimba Taters, Nicholas Ridiculous’ High Wire acts, and Woody’s World Ukulele workshops.

Festival passes start at $299 for three-day adult tickets, with accompanied youth tickets at $149 and children’s passes at $32. Camping options begin at $30 per person for three nights.
