Q&A: Seri Vida

Seri Vida

Define your genre in five words or less:
Raucous, unrelenting rock’n’roll with guts.

So, someone is walking past as you guys are playing, they then go get a beer and tell their friend about you… what do they say?
“Hey you should check out the band in there! I just pushed through the room and I reckon one of them is definitely about to fall over”.

How long have you been gigging and writing?
Two years.

What has been your favourite gig you’ve played to date?
The Old Bar supporting Fathoms, and Axxon. Amazing bands to play with, and just a really fun room.

Which band would you most like to have a battle/showdown with?
I reckon we could steal the stage from a number of bands on the radio today, but Nickleback would be the most fun to destroy.

What inspires or has influenced your music the most?
Most of the song writing is inspired by personal drama and the stuff that gets you all worked up in life. We’re inspired by performers who know that if you don’t give it everything you get nothing.

What do you think a band has to do these days to succeed?
Work hard, play gigs, write, tour, play gigs and play more gigs. I think you just have to do it because you love it, and much of the rest is down to luck and timing.

Do you have any record releases to date? What? Where can I get it?
We are about to launch our first single called The Hound. You can get it at our launch and online after Friday February 24 at Bandcamp.com.

Why should everyone come and see your band?
Because there is nobody else like us out there. And we are generous lovers *cough* I mean ‘performers’.

When are you playing live/releasing your album/EP/single/etc?
We are launching our single at Yah Yah’s on Friday February 24.
