Pussy Riot members sentenced to jail for World Cup protest

Members of feminist protest punk outfit Pussy Riot have each been sentenced to 15 days in prison for disrupting the World Cup final with their on-field protest over the weekend.

Veronica “Nika” Nikulshina, Olga Kuracheva, Olga Pakhtusova, and Petya Verzilov each dressed in police uniforms and ran onto the field during the game, in protest of Russian political and prison systems, demanding the government free political prisoners and cease “illegal arrests at protests”.

In addition to spending 15 days in a Russian prison, the Pussy Riot members have been banned from attending any sporting events for three years.
