Melbourne’s iconic Straightjacket Nation have finally released their second full length album and it absolutely rips. Everything this band has done has been absolutely unrelenting and this new record is no different. Although it’s been nine years since their last full length Cheap Kicks, the band has lost nothing in their recent years of less activity. The band’s new self titled full length is out now through Cool Death Records.

Short lived rockers Sugar, fronted by former Husker Du frontman Bob Mould, have announced the re-release of their 1992 debut album Copper Blue ahead of its 25th anniversary. From Bob Mould: “Happy to announce the 25th-anniversary edition of Sugar’s Copper Blue exclusively for Record Store Day 2017.Pressed onto 3x heavyweight coloured LPs (in Silver, Gold, and Blue to compliment the original artwork), the special release also includes the original album plus a live recording from the Cabaret Metro in Chicago on July 22, 1992.”

For many, the punk rock music featured in the original run of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games from 1999-2004 were the first exposure to the sound for millions of people around the world. Featuring bands like Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, Lagwagon and Bodyjar, the millions selling games brought punk rock bands to a previously unthinkable global audience. Director Ludvig Gur and THPS developer Ralph D’Amato have come together to create a documentary about the game series and the surrounding phenomenon and its success, particularly in relation the punk rock music featured in it. Currently in pre-production, the pair have set up an Indie Go Go fundraising campaign to help make this documentary a reality. Donate now.

Long-running punks Frenzal Rhomb finally announced the upcoming release of their new album, their first since 2011’s Smoko at the Pet Food Factory. Recorded at The Blasting Room with Bill Stevenson (Descendents/ALL, Black Flag), the new album is entitled Hi-Vis High Tea. The band has released a video for lead single Cunt Act, showing that the band has not changed their sound or trademark sense of humour in the slightest in their time between albums. The band has also announced an extensive national tour. The band will play The Corner Hotel on Saturday July 29 with the new album on sale Friday May 26.

US rockers The Interrupters have announced a headline show in Melbourne this May. Playing the Gasometer on Thursday May 4, the show will be in addition to their appearance touring with Green Day, who are playing Rod Laver Arena on Friday May 5 and Saturday May 6. Having played Australia for the first time on Soundwave in 2015, the band continues to tour in support of their 2016 album Say It Out Loud, released on Tim Armstrong’s Hellcat Records.

Ahead of their upcoming national tour and Groovin’ The Moo appearances, Against Me! have announced supports for their headline shows. Joining already announced national support Camp Cope will be The Football Club at their show on Friday May 5 at Max Watt’s. Tickets are on sale now.
