Brisbane punk pioneers The Saints have announced a run of pub shows this October. Fronted by original members Chris Bailey and Iain Shedden and backed up by Pat Bourke and Davey Lane, the band will play at The Gasometer Hotel on Wednesday October 5, Thursday October 6 and Friday October 7. Tickets on sale now.

 

German record label Power It Up have announced the release of a series of anthology albums from ‘80s Australian hardcore and thrash bands. Compiling long out of print releases from Vicious Circle, Perdition and Anger in Motion, the album series will be released this October. The label has explained, “We are really proud to announce that we’re starting with a lot of fine re -releases from the almighty Australian punk and hardcore history. After many months of research and looking for original members we can now share our ideas. We are starting with the first part of the Vicious Circle discography, the Perdition discography will follow. The material is completely remastered and comes with a booklet including massive information, pictures, gig flyers and liner notes.”

 

Supports have been announced for the launch show for new Clowns single Destroy the Evidence. Sonic Youth Allowance and Don Bosco will join both Clowns and Brisbane’s No Anchor at The Evelyn on Friday October 21. Tickets are on sale now.

 

Long running queer punk pioneers The Dicks have announced they’ll be playing their final show in the hometown of Austin, Texas on Monday October 31. Best known for their 1983 SST release Kill From the Heart, The Dicks were one of the first openly gay punk bands, paving the way for crossover between the punk and queer communities.

 

Punk rockers Dead to Me have announced the release of a new three song 7”. Entitled I Wanna Die in Los Angeles, the record will be released on Friday October 21 via Fat Wreck Chords. The record is the band’s first since 2011’s Moscow Penny Ante.

 

San Francisco queer punk legends Pansy Division have announced the release of a new full length album. Entitled Quite Contrary, the album follows up 2009’s That’s So Gay. Quite Contrary will be released Friday September 9 on Alternative Tentacles.

 

Reunited Chicago emo lords American Football have announced the release of a new record, their first since their highly influential 1999 self titled debut. Also self titled, the new record will be released on Friday October 21 through Polyvinyl. The band has released a streaming single from the album entitled I’ve Been Lost for So Long.

 

Milwaukee hardcore band Expire have announced their final Australian tour this November. Supported by Melbourne’s Born Free, the band will play The Bendigo Hotel on Tuesday November 15 and an all ages show at Wrangler the next day.
