The band have also announced their debut album, Character Building, which will be put out by Blossom Rot Records.

Fresh off releasing their stellar new single, ‘Sweet Thing’, Bad Bangs have just revealed the film clip for the track, alongside news of their debut album.

Before even watching the video, ‘Sweet Thing’ already had us in an imaginative spin with its sound, summoning warm, nostalgic allusions to ‘60s garage rock and ‘70s roots rock. The clip only enhances the retro reverie and stands as the perfect visual accompaniment for the track.

Shot and directed by the reputed Maree Prokos, the clip takes us to inviting rural destinations – into forests, beside lakes, between rock formations and through dusty paddocks, as the visuals cut between the band members performing their instruments from the different locations. Shot in Super 8, the video is an ode to the bygone eras that infuse Bad Bangs’ unique brand of garage rock.

Coinciding with the new video, Bad Bangs’ debut album is poised to be one of this year’s most anticipated releases. With the support of the City of Melbourne, the four-piece teamed up with esteemed producer and engineer John Lee (Laura Jean, Blake Scott, Emma Russack, Stonefield) to record the LP – a nine-track adventure set to take the band’s sound to the next level.

Character Building is also the first release the band have put out on Blossom Rot Records, the beloved indie record label that’s run by two of the hardest-working people in music, Nathalie Pavlovic (Dianas, Snowy Band and Elizabeth) and Sophie McComish (Body Type).
