Poop… but cute? The viral Japanese craze comes to Melbourne this month

kawaii poop experience

Taking potty humour to the next level.

When making a list of things that might be considered ‘cute’, most people would put poop far, far, far down at the bottom. But not these guys!

The Unko Museum: The Kawaii Poop Experience, running from January 17 to February 24 at 360 Bourke St in Melbourne, reimagines poop in a new and adorable way.

Prepare for an afternoon of hilarity and whimsy. The quirky exhibition is chock-full of vibrant decor, immersive experiences and photo-friendly installations, making it a sweet and lighthearted afternoon for the whole family.

Stroll through seven brightly-coloured rooms and try out silly activities including chasing poop graphics, the Crappy Game Corner and the many photo shoot galleries. Before you leave, make sure to get your hands on some poop-tastic merchandise such as plushies and sweet treats.

The goal of the exhibition is to celebrate the ‘max unko kawaii’, or ‘the maximum cuteness of poop’, and it’s the world’s only international gallery dedicated to cute poop (big surprise there).

Created in Japan and held in cities such as Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Shizuoka the experience quickly became a viral sensation, with 1.4 million visitors walking through its doors. Now, it’ll come to Australia for the first time ever, presented by the entertainment discovery platform Fever and T-Museum.

If you’re looking for an experience you won’t soon forget, let yourself get flushed away at the Unko Museum’s Kawaii Poop Experience. But don’t forget to wipe!
