The 70-minute performance brings together 12 members of the Tatana Village Choir with eight musicians from the Australian Art Orchestra, accompanied by short films. The collaboration explores Peroveta’s origins in Western hymns during Papua’s 19th century colonisation, and its evolution into a distinct form of choral music.
Choulai, who serves as Artistic Director of the Australian Art Orchestra, draws from his connections to PNG for this rare showcase of Motuan cultural music outside its traditional setting.
A special Lunar New Year offer of 20% off selected performances is available from Tuesday 28 January at 4pm until Thursday 30 January at 11.59pm. Select the Lunar New Year Promo price type at checkout to access the discount.
