Play On Victoria to hold eight massive regional concerts next weekend

Play On Victoria

The Play On Victoria line-up includes the best of regional Victorian talent including Gareth Liddiard, Dan Kelly, Kutcha Edwards & Friends, Alice Skye, Dallas Frasca, The Kite Machine and Jess Rebiro.

Following the announcement of Play On Victoria earlier this week – the Sidney Myer Music Bowl concert in October as part of the Victorian Government’s vaccinated economy trial – the Victorian Government have extended the love to regional music fans with a huge weekend of outdoor concerts locked in next weekend, taking place on both Saturday, 30 October and Sunday, 31 October.

Taking to outdoor venues in Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Halls Gap, Warrnambool, Castlemaine, Archies Creek and Avenel, the Play On regional series will feature more than 20 regional Victorian artists, including the likes of Gareth Liddiard, Allara, Skyscraper Stan, Jess Ribeiro, Kutcha Edwards, Dallas Frasca, The Kite Machine, Dan Kelly, The Maes, Benny Walker, Galaxy Hop, Annie-Rose Maloney, Machine Translations (solo), Our Carlson, Steve Cousins, Bec Goring, The Garden Age, Leah Senior, Harry Hookey, This Way North, Maddy May, Asha Bright, Hannah Blackburn and Tracey Miller & The Shaggy Town Boys.

  • The Vic Government has announced Play On Victoria – a series of events taking place on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 October, as part of the vaccinated economy trials

Held for double vaccinated audiences, the concerts will be delivered in line with the venue’s COVIDSafe plan and trial “safe settings” on Victoria’s reopening roadmap, which is the first step towards reopening live music in the state, a process that has garnered considerable criticism for so far excluding a full reopening roadmap for indoor venues.

“These outdoor gigs will showcase many of regional Victoria’s best musicians and beloved venues – and will be a vital step in bringing live music back to our state and getting the industry back on its feet,” says Minister for Creative Industries Danny Pearson.

“We’re making sure we have the best technology in place to get our great local events up and going again and make them run as smoothly as possible.”

With a lineup showcasing some of the best in Victorian music, the massive outdoor series will also shine a light on some of the region’s most esteemed music venues including Handle Bar in Bendigo, The Barwon Club in Geelong, Archies Creek Hotel, Halls Gap Hotel, Dart and Marlin in Warrnambool, Fowles Wine in Avenel, and The Bridge Hotel in Castlemaine, as well as Volta in Ballarat which will host a laneway party outside.

Intended to support Victorian artists who have been unable to perform during the pandemic and help regional music venues that have also been affected, the Play On regional series will also provide a major boost to these eight well-loved regional cities and towns.

Music lovers attending the concert will be asked to show they’re fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 digital certificate displayed through the Service Victoria app, Medicare app, or equivalent smartphone wallet. Victorians can add their COVID-19 digital certificate to the Service Victoria app through MyGov or the Express Medicare Plus App. Check out our full guide to getting one here.

As for tickets, they are on sale now via the participating venues with prices sitting between $20-30.
