Melbourne’s 17-day ALWAYS LIVE program will see Victoria’s central and regional hubs come to life with music this November.

The program will present a free ten-day SoundBox pop-up live music studio in Melbourne’s CBD, featuring some of Australia’s biggest musos.

Running from November 24 through to December 10, ALWAYS LIVE will see over 250 local, national and international acts perform across the state at more than 65 distinct events.

Keep up with the latest music news, features, festivals, interviews and reviews here.

Over ten days, SoundBox will see free live performances, artist interviews, showcases, songwriting sessions, unique broadcasts and more take over Melbourne’s Arts Centre forecourt.

The SoundBox program is led by a talented lineup of Aussie artists, including Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett, Alex Lahey, rapper Illy, Holy Holy, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, Ruby Fields, R&B stars Miss Kaninna and Jerome Farah, the 12-piece Sunshine And Disco Faith Choir, Rebecca Black, pop-punk sensation Slowly Slowly, and many more.

In addition to live performances, SoundBox will kick off with a special launch event called Blak Out Day on Friday, November 24th. This day will feature interviews and performances by First Nations artists, including Airileke x Yidaki, Bandok Tati, Brother Nelson, Brothers in Arms, Caution, Izy, Jahmal Yami, Tamala Shelton, and Waari. The entire day’s proceedings will be broadcast on 3KND.

Other exciting highlights of the festival include exclusive insights into the music industry provided by Kira Piru’s event KIRA-Oke, lively discussions between punk icons Amyl & The Sniffers and Cosmic Psychos, a Taylor Swift tribute event hosted by Clementine Ford called Taylor Made Karaoke, a special celebration for the 50th anniversary of Mushroom Records, a performance by Beijing-born Melbourne DJ Moopie, and an appearance by Jessie Ware, who will also headline the Summer Camp Festival and perform at Victoria by Farmers Daughters during SoundBox.

SoundBox will wrap up its ten-day program with a performance by the renowned singer, DJ, and producer Ultra Nate, known for her hit If You Could Read My Mind.
