Explore untouched cells, covered in historical graffiti of inmates past.

With Melbourne’s own Art Processors leading the transformation of this heritage listed building through immersive multimedia installation, Pentridge Prison are opening up previously unseen areas of the maximum security prison. Featuring a guided experience that combines first-hand accounts with audiovisual stimulus, its the perfect opportunity to explore the prison’s infamous, dark past from March 1 onwards.

  • Prentridge Prison in Coburg are hosting a series of guided, multimedia tours
  • They will explore previously inaccessible areas of the historic, maximum security prison
  • The tours will kick off from March 1

Established in 1851, with the first prisoners arriving this year, and closing in 1997, experience an immersive tour of this historic, maximum security prison created in partnership with the National Trust of Australia.

Covering B Division – the division for long-term prisoners with behaviour problems – and the H Division – the high security, discipline and protection division – which are opening up to the public for the first time. There will also be night explorations, for those who aren’t faint-hearted.

Pentridge Prison are known for more than just their harrowing past, however. With a Brewdog Brewery having just opened in the prison and summer movie nights that will extend all the way through to March, there’s tons to do at this iconic Coburg landmark.
