Peach PRC debuted her spectacular upcoming album Porcelain last weekend at the Palace Foreshore.

In classic Naarm fashion, Peach PRC was met with wind, rain and cold temperatures that caused some technical difficulties; but didn’t stop her from putting on a hell of a show.

The pop-star who began posting on TikTok and rose to fame in the COVID lockdowns, Peach has truly stepped into her own in recent years. Being a longtime fan following along her journey, it’s a heartwarming experience to see an artist you love solidify themselves in their creative identity.

That confidence showcased itself in the face of the unpredictability of live performance.

Debuting a new, not to mention unreleased, album is no easy thing. This feels especially true when considering the depth of the lyrical content in Peach’s songs. Porcelain, although interspersed with some classic Peach PRC bangers, made time to focus on the softer side of Peach.

My biggest highlights of the show were when Peach allowed us to see the sides of herself that go beyond the pop world; singing alongside a Snake plant as its melodies were emitted through electrodes, as well as her beautifully choreographed pole dancing.

She takes us through her journey over the last few years and gives some more context as to why she is the way she is. Her new song Pink providing us with an explanation as to why she embodied the aesthetic for so long.

Her departure from the thing that made her so recognisable is to me another signifier of her growth as an artist and as a person.

Despite the immense pressure I’m sure she was feeling; performing an unreleased album, sporting a new aesthetic, battling the weather and technical mishaps, she handled herself with the grace and professionalism of a tried and true pop girl. Delivering a fun show with a clear artistic vision that showcased her authentic artist identity to her fans.

The audience welcomed her departure from pink with open arms; excitedly taking in each new song with the enthusiasm you’d expect for her hits.

Something about the rain and wind at an outdoor venue almost heightens the experience.

Even though you’re cold and jittery, it’s all the more reason to dance, more so when you’re hearing an artist you love perform songs for you before anyone else!

My hat goes off to Peach, she’s solidifying herself as an Aussie pop girl and doing it how she wants.

Porcelain comes out April 3rd.
