Pavlov's Dog will play their 1975 debut Pampered Menial in full on a 2027 national tour, joined by folk singer-songwriter Iain Matthews.
Half a century on from their cult debut, Pavlov’s Dog are bringing that album to Australia to perform in full.
The five-date national run follows the band’s sold-out 2025 tour, their first shows on Australian soil after decades spent here as a cult name rather than a live proposition. The return comes off the back of heavy demand from fans, and this time Pavlov’s Dog will perform 1975’s Pampered Menial from start to finish, paired with a wider set that pulls from across their back catalogue.

Led by frontman David Surkamp, the group built that record from an unlikely blend of progressive rock, folk and theatrical ambition. It arrived in a form that proved almost impossible to categorise on release, and while the band earned a devoted following, they gradually slipped from the mainstream and into something closer to legend.
Alongside the headline set, the tour brings in Iain Matthews as a special guest and long-time collaborator. The British singer-songwriter first made his name with Fairport Convention before forming Matthews Southern Comfort, whose version of Joni Mitchell’s Woodstock became an international hit.
Across a career spanning more than 50 years, Matthews has moved between folk, country, rock and Americana, building a body of work known for its warmth and craft. His long connection with the band makes him a natural fit for a run built around rediscovery and shared history.
For Australian audiences, it lands as a rare chance to hear Surkamp deliver these songs live, a set of recordings whose standing has only grown across the 50 years since they first appeared.
