As a first taste of Parquet Court’s new album, the band have released the single ‘Almost Had To Start A Fight/In And Out Of Patience’, the fifth track off the album.

The band’s fifth album is set to be groundbreaking – an album about independance and individuality with love at its centre. Wide Awaaaake! is new territory for the band but a testement to their restless spirit. The album takes a step away from their previous works with their traditional punk-rock passion being paired with a lyrical tenderness which is a vulnerability in their songs which has not been present before.

Drummer and songwriter Max Savage claimed “I needed an outlet for the side of me that feels emotions like joy, rage, silliness and anger,” which is where this album originated.

For the two primary songwriters Max Savage and Austin Brown, Wide Awake! shows the juxtaposition of coping and confrontation.

β€œIn such a hateful era of culture, we stand in opposition to that β€” and to the nihilism used to cope with that β€” with ideas of passion and love,” says Brown.
