Music promotion website Posse.com just earned themselves some bling, with the Federal Government giving the company a $758,000 funding grant.
Posse.com is a fan promotion website that helps said fans promote their favourite bands, shows, merch, CDs and venues through social networks and directs people to retailers like Moshtix or MusicShop.
And every time someone you referred buys something you earn money. It’s a profitable little idea that even the Federal Government wants to get it on the action here.
Speaking from SXSW festival in the US, posse.com founder and CEO Rebekah Campbell said, “Our vision is to convert fan conversations on social networks to actual sales, and assist with audience development for the artist”.
Pretty astute idea there and it looks like it’s been working too. Since it’s launch in August 2010 posse.com has gained over 8000 active music fans and handled more than $165k in ticket sales in February alone. If that’s not enough of an incentive, then have a look at which bands are using posse.com. Dead Kennedys, Jimmy Eat World and House Of Pain along with the music festivals Supafest and Future Sounds all use posse.com.
