One Man, Two Guvnors

There’s nothing not to like about One Man, Two Guvnors.  If you’re particularly averse to slapstick or have a violent hatred for Benny Hill then there may be one of two moments where you find yourself preparing to groan.  However, the show never overdoes any one aspect of its multitude of offerings.  Fast, clever wordy comedy punctuated by perfectly executed slapstick, musical breakouts, razor-sharp improvisation and even a little audience participation blend seamlessly together to leave everyone in stitches.

There’s no two ways about it, the cast are simply wonderful.  Set in Brighton in the early ’60s, Francis Henshall, played by the superb Owain Arthur, is a dogsbody who bites off slightly more than he can chew when he promises his loyalty to two masters at once.  Several mistaken identities, crossed wires, and double-meanings later, alls well that ends well, and the audience exits with sore muscles from all the laughter.  Don’t miss it.
