With the unveiling of Ólafur Arnalds’ latest track ‘re:member’ we are gifted a taste of the software called Stratus that turns the piano into a unique new instrument. Mixed amongst the Stratus Pianos are a string quartet, synths, electronics and drums which flow from chords to harmonies to an electric end.

The music video for the single is out now, shot by Icelandic director Thora Hilmarsdottir. “The video touches on elements of masculinity and how men communicate their feelings,” says Arnalds. “Also, the hope and joy we can find in each other when we manage to connect.”

Ólafur Arnalds is a BAFTA winning artist, composer, musician and producer. Later this year he will perform the Stratus Pianos, an interactive piano installation featuring two self-playing pianos. Due to the generative nature of the pianos, every performance is unique. Arnalds’ tour includes sold out shows in England, Ireland, France, Germany and the U.S.

“I’m very excited about going on tour again,” explains Arnalds. “So far we have announced the European part of our tour this fall but more dates and countries to follow soon.” Fingers crossed that Australia makes the list.
