Gearing up to be their biggest show of 2021 Novel, known for high-quality productions like B3 at Marvel Stadium, Let Them Eat Cake at Werribee Mansion and Pitch Music & Arts Festival, is bringing its smalltown Street Rave to Port Melbourne this October.

Novel’s ‘smalltown’ is a cult-loved series that has been popping up around Melbourne’s underground car parks, St. Kilda Foreshore and Thornbury warehouses over time and it is renowned for attracting top tier international dance acts, including DJ KOZE, Nina Kraviz and Stephen Bodzin.

Keep up with the latest music interviews, news and reviews here.

Going down on Saturday, October 30, the party or ‘street rave’ as it’s been billed, will bring Roza Terenzi and Tornado Wallace, two Australian luminaries, to the urban playground of their last rave location in a homecoming show that will reverberate in our memories forever.

Tornado Wallace is a local hero, a virtuoso of eclectic goodness whose sound resonates globally. In 2019 his closing set at Hopkins Creek went down in local music folklore. Little did we know that would be the last time he would play in his hometown for close to two years.

As for Roza Terenzi, since she left Melbourne (via Perth) to head to Europe, she released one of last year’s most impressive extended players on Planet Euphorique, and completed an RA mix that threatened the spacetime continuum.

Alongside the headliners, the event will also welcome Millú and Pjenné to smalltown, two local artists that come highly respected and in-demand across the Melbourne landscape – if you’ve seen them, you’ll know every DJ set they play is an outstanding experience worthy of your attention.

Rounding out the lineup, Willem and Marli are two of the most promising up-and-coming talents, two singular artists with much to offer who will also rise to the occasion this Spring and help Melburnians and ravers in general finally let down their hair.

John Fish will prepare a visual feast, a subversion of the concrete jungle into an entertaining extravaganza alongside Full Throttle Entertainment’s finest Funktion-One Soundsystem. As always with this crew, no expense will be spared.

With all of us craving ‘normality’ again thanks to Melbourne’s lockdowns, there couldn’t be a better time for Novel to arise as the light at the end of the tunnel with this event.
