not without friends have booked Rippon Lea Estate for a second summer, and the lawns reopen on 23 January.
Luke Alessi, William Kiss and Jordan Brando make up not without friends, three Melbourne DJs who have been mates for more than 15 years and spent most of that time building separate careers overseas before pooling them into one project. Untitled Group is presenting the 2027 event, as it did the first one.
That first one landed on 17 January 2026 and spent the following weeks all over people’s feeds. It also did a favour for Dean Turnley, whose track Actin’ Tough the trio pushed hard on the day and which went on to become one of the year’s biggest dance records.

Rippon Lea covers 14 acres at 192 Hotham Street in Elsternwick, with an ornamental lake, a fernery, an orchard and a 33-room Victorian mansion in the middle of it. The estate is on the National Heritage List and spends most of its year hosting weddings, school groups and garden tours. January 2026 was the first time it opened its gates for an event of this kind.
Support for the project has come from Solomun, Peggy Gou, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, DJ Seinfeld, Chloé Caillet and Barry Can’t Swim, among others. The trio’s remix of Spiller and Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Groovejet went to number one on Beatport earlier this year. Away from the big rooms they have run their own DIY events around Melbourne, usually in spaces nobody had thought to put a sound system in.
Each of the three arrives with a different set of instincts, which is the point of the thing. Alessi, Kiss and Brando play back to back for the bulk of the day rather than carving it into separate sets, so the direction shifts depending on who grabs the record. House sits at the centre of it, though the 2026 event wandered a fair way either side of that.
Presale registration is open now through Untitled Group, and anyone who registers gets first crack at tickets on 16 October. The general public follows three hours later. Expect a one-day run on the lawns, gates opening in the early afternoon and the whole thing wrapping before the neighbours complain.
