It’s been a long, hot summer and the euphoria of girls, sun and sand is still running through your mind. That’s what ‘After All’ and ‘The Sound’ – the opening two cuts from Noah Gunderson’s third studio album White Noise – sound like. Rocky electric guitars and vocals cut through the mix to create an end-credits cinematic experience.
At its simplest, White Noise is an album that is easy to delve into it. From piano ballads and heartfelt songwriting in ‘New Religion’ to catchy, electric guitar hooks, this is an album that will whisk your mind away to somewhere you’d rather be. If there’s one track to get around, it’s ‘Number One Hit Of The Summer’, because the tempo and mid ‘00s rock feel of the guitars will conjure up images of the ocean and bring back memories of binging The OC.
On first listen, your ears will be challenged by the various moods and instrumentation at play, yet that’s what makes it a joy to listen to over and over again. It’s an exciting journey and one that’s best indulged through a nice pair of headphones on the couch on a lazy Sunday.
