Does the man ever stop?

Fresh off the back of releasing Ghosteen, Nick Cave has announced a new book that will give us additional insight into his creative world.

Titled Stranger Than Kindness, the book comes hand in hand with an exhibition of the same name which documents over 50 years of Cave’s life and career. Set to take over Copenhagen’s Royal Danish Library from March until October next year, the exhibition will feature more than 300 artefacts from Cave’s own private collection, as well as items from the Arts Centre Melbourne archives.

Luckily for those who can’t make it to Copenhagen, Cave’s forthcoming illustrated autobiography offers commentary on the items showcased throughout the Stranger Than Kindness exhibition. Complete with a collection of photographs, ruminations and handwritten lyrics, as well as musings from celebrated writer Darcey Steinke, the book looks to be a highly desirable collector’s item.

“Stranger Than Kindness asks what shapes our lives and makes us who we are, and celebrates the curiosity and power of the creative spirit,” said the book’s publishers, Canongate, adding that the autobiography “presents Cave’s life, work and inspiration and explores his many real and imagined universes”.

Stranger Than Kindness is due for release on March 23, 2020 via Canongate. For more information on the book and exhibition, head to Nick Cave’s website
