Relax, soak away your stresses and bliss out to top Australian artists with a weekend in Victoria’s spa capital this July at Daylesford‘s new winter music festival, which will finally be going ahead this July following two rescheduled events.
Courtesy of the team behind Echuca’s award-winning Riverboats Music Festival, the inaugural Winter Sounds will encapsulate unique and beautiful venues across Daylesford and the surrounding hills over three days, boasting an all-Australian music lineup and plenty of country charm.

After originally being announced back in April last year to go ahead in July, the festival was forced to cancel its July festival with just 24 hours’ notice due to a snap lockdown put in place by the Victorian Government. Rescheduling the festival to September, the event was also unable to go ahead with the ongoing lockdown across Victoria at the time.
Now, the third time’s a charm with the festival going ahead this July 2022, a whole year after originally intended – and by the looks, the wait is sure to be worth it.
Known as a haven of relaxation – thanks to 80 per cent of the country’s mineral springs located there – the music series is giving music lovers and travellers just one more reason to hit up Daylesford that promises to be a music-filled weekend like no other, featuring performances from C.W. Stoneking, Emma Donovan & The Putbacks, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks, Blake Scott, Freya Josephine Hollick, The Luke Sinclair Set, Harmony Byrne and Jazz Party.

Running from July 15-17, the three-day event will be spread across five heritage venues, including Daylesford Uniting Church, Bullarto Village Hall, Daylesford Town Hall, Glenlyon Town Hall and Palais Hepburn Springs, offering audiences a chance to be transported to a different time and place for a set of intimate and extraordinary musical experiences.
Alongside the performers, Winter Sounds will feature pop-up bars at each venue to showcase local wine and food, with each venue having been carefully selected to offer intimate musical experiences.
Punters can opt to purchase tickets for a particular performance or grab passes to see the lot in “a musical roadtrip through Spa Country”.
“Visiting Daylesford during winter is one of the great Australian pilgrimages, and it really is the best time of the year to enjoy this magical part of regional Victoria,” says Winter Sounds Director, David Frazer.
“Winter Sounds will bring some of Australia’s best-loved performers to Daylesford and surrounding hills while drawing attention to some of the region’s most beautiful and sometimes forgotten heritage buildings. With this unique combination of talent and atmosphere, we’re hoping to deliver a really special set of experiences for our audiences,” he says.
As a unique festival treat, Frazer has also chartered a restored 1950s train to transport festival-goers to Bullarto Village Hall for Cash Savage & The Last Drinks’ performance, supported by Blake Scott. The 30-minute journey will take passengers through the Wombat State Forest and scenic countryside.
