Nerve throws a mystery Thursday show to kick off Easter weekend in Melbourne

Nerve
words by staff writer

Nerve swings open on a Thursday with two mystery guests and a stacked support.

Nerve, the Melbourne venue at 585 Lonsdale Street, is doing something a little different this Easter; swinging open on a Thursday night with a lineup it’s deliberately keeping close to its chest.

Two unannounced special guests will be stepping into the booth for what’s being billed as a late-night continuation following a major show happening across the river. Capacity is limited, doors open late, and that’s about all you’re getting.

Nerve’s Easter Thursday offering lands on 2 April, with Billy Currie, JTV and Anreal also on the bill alongside support from GIESCH, EFENJ, Helena Katie, SALERNO and AKENA. It’s a stacked night even without knowing who the headliners are,  and that mystery element is clearly very much the point.

For a venue that operates at the more underground end of Melbourne’s electronic music scene, running a one-off Thursday show with undisclosed guests fits the vibe perfectly.

Late doors, limited numbers, a lineup worth turning up for regardless of who the secret guests turn out to be; it shapes up as one of those nights that rewards people who just commit and show up.

Nerve (usually) runs every Friday night at 585 Lonsdale Street, spread across two rooms with an outdoor rooftop area and a state-of-the-art sound system. Drinks are priced accessibly all night, $6 Carlton, $10 Alizé and Agwa, $11 vodkas and basics, $12 South Ave’s.
