Melbourne New Music Group is proud to present the first performance of Music for Electric Pianos by UK-born Australian composer Tom Silvester.
This concert will feature a unique ensemble of Fender Rhodes pianos with audience seated in the round to create an immersive sonic experience.
The work has influences of early American Minimalism and Javanese Gamelan, and employs a deliberately simple modal language of repeated musical elements introduced sequentially to build its rich kaleidoscopic textures.
The subtle bell-like qualities of these iconic instruments coupled with the unique acoustic properties of the amazing Norla Dome promise the audience a memorable evening of transformative music.
