The program will explore questions around love, art, space, First Nations’ knowledge and more.

Melbourne’s culture, design and architectural laboratory MPavilion has revealed its program for February. Taking over MPavilion Parkade across the entire month, the program will feature discussions, live music, interactive events and more.

Curated under the theme ‘1+1: Who are we together?’, the program will explore questions around love, art, space, First Nations’ knowledge, spirituality, discord and harmony to rediscover what it truly means to be together as we emerge from the isolation of 2020.

The huge range of MTalks will unpack ideas around togetherness and sustainability, spanning topics such as community-led climate action, the social and cultural role photography plays in our lives, how the isolation of last year’s lockdowns have challenged and magnified intimacy, how to foster healthy relationships with ourselves and more.

On the music front, you can expect a collaboration between Mindy Meng Wang and Becky Sui Zhen combining contemporary electronic music with a 2,500-year-old guzheng instrument from China, part two of MERGE‘s MPavilion residencies featuring Hachiku, The Opals, IJALE, Mara Schwerdtfeger and Shelly Senbei, and a Valentine’s Day party with Banoffee, SojuGang and Elle Shimada.

Plus, there’ll be loads of fun activities dedicated to bringing Melburnians together including weekly yoga sessions on Tuesday mornings, a collaboration between MPavilion and Rooftop Cinema for film screenings every Thursday night and a joint live fashion show and DJ performance from 66 Records, OutWst and ON3.
