Montaigne is finally touring again, and they’re playing Glorious Heights in full

Words by staff writer

Montaigne returns with their first national tour in four years, marking a decade of Glorious Heights.

Montaigne is dusting off the album that started it all, taking debut record Glorious Heights around the country in August.

The tour marks 10 years since Glorious Heights arrived, and Montaigne will play the record from start to finish for the first time, joined by a scattering of favourites from other eras. Known for theatrical vocals, sharp lyricism and a genre-blending sound, the Sydney artist is back on the road for their first national run in four years, built around singing, dancing and a fair bit of crying.

Since Glorious Heights landed in 2016, debuting at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart and winning the ARIA for Breakthrough Artist, Montaigne has packed plenty in. They’ve represented Australia at Eurovision, put out music with David Byrne and picked up a Grammy nomination for their work with composer Austin Wintory on the video game Stray Gods.

In 2025 the Sydney artist dropped their first fully self-produced album, it’s hard to be a fish, earning nominations for the Australian Music Prize and the AIR Award for Best Independent Pop Album or EP. Their collaboration with Tom Cardy, Red Flags, has clocked more than 170 million views on YouTube, while a 31-date run through Europe and the UK alongside Dadi Freyr carried the live show overseas. Other collaborators include Hilltop Hoods and Ninajirachi, with the catalogue streamed hundreds of millions of times.

For Melbourne, the Corner Hotel show falls on 28 August, with a Frankston date at Pelly Bar on 27 August and a Castlemaine show at the Royal Theatre on 29 August.
