What began as a song written for their wedding day has become a debut single that Mister Co. are giving to lovers around the world.

Plenty of musicians have used the powerful feeling of love as their muse over the years, but for Melbourne’s husband duo, Mister Co. it is the reason for the inception. Tonight, their debut single, which will be released on Thursday, December 1st, tells the story of two lovers and the life they have built together as life partners. It is very autobiographical, and it was written to be performed by the couple on their wedding day.

It has all of the trimmings of a wholesome Hollywood story. A couple that meets in high school, they bond over a shared passion for music and eventually fall in love. Growing into passionate musicians and producers in their own right, Connor and Oscar Absolum have worked on countless musical projects with various artists, but never together. It wasn’t until their honeymoon that the pair decided to begin their songwriting career as a duo.
The couple always knew they wanted to do something together musically, and their nuptials seemed like the right spark to blend their musical identities. “We wrote Tonight for our wedding day, which we performed in front of our guests. The energy and feeling in the room really struck us, which is why we decided to make it our debut single.”
As a result, Mister Co. was born from the moment each artist said “I Do,” and this private milestone led to a hope that listeners would see and relate to the vulnerable side of the group’s music.
Both members of Mister Co. knew music would play a massive role in their lives, and when it came to their relationship, music was the common ground. Hailing from different social groups, backgrounds and lifestyles, it was a high school production in which the two members were cast as principal leads that started it all. “If you were to tell our 16-year-old selves when we met that in eight years, we were going to be married and release our first single together, neither of us would believe it.”

Music now serves as the creative vice for the couple, who also run a business in property investment together. Mister Co. allows for creative expression and escapes from their corporate personas. “The thing we love most about Mister Co. is the ability to fuse the influences and sound we both have been individually developing and exposed to throughout the years. We believe that feeling is at the centre of our sound; instead of having a genre focus, we give ourselves the creative freedom to focus more on the feeling and vibe we want to express behind the story we are trying to tell.”
After the mayhem that the last few years have caused for the local music scene, Mister Co. held their first official performance in June and is now ready to also mark the group’s existence on tape. “The single is just the start for us; we have a lot in the works. Our second single Make You Feel Alright, will be out in February/March 2023 with our debut album On This Journey Vol 1 to be released at the back end of 2023.”
The debut album will continue to document the group’s musical exploration over their last ten years together, and as each decade passes, a new volume will be released. “We both are very ambitious and love to keep our business and creative minds busy and active; for us we believe that will be for life.”
