RAW COMEDY WINNER: RAW Comedy held its Grand Final yesterday, and it was a win to Angus Gordon from Queensland. Rohan Ganju  from Victoria was the runner-up, with special mentions going to Sam Taunton and Jess Perkins, both of Victoria. Angus wins a trip to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, with entry into their version of RAW – So You Think You’re Funny?.The final was taped for ABC2 and will air later in the year.

AWARD NOMINEES: The Moosehead committee have announced the finalists for the Golden Gibbo award. The Gibbo, named after passed Melbourne comedian Lynda Gibson is given to the festival’s best independently produced show which pursues an artist’s idea more than it does commercial lure. The nominees:

ONE-OFF: Two fun special events are on tonight:

The Legal Comedy Debate returns to the Athenaeum Theatre this evening. Join the Law Institute of Victoria as two teams made of lawyers argue the pros and cons for comedy glory. 6.30pm.

And it wouldn’t be the final week of the festival without the return of Music, Mirth & Mayhem. The 17th edition of the show will be hosted once again by Lawrence Mooney, with acts including Dave HughesAdam Hills, Tim Rogers, Benny Walker, Liz Stringer, Rebecca Barnard, Trygve Wakenshaw and more. Money raised from the show goes to the Mirabel Foundation. 7.30pm at The Hi-Fi.

OPENING: We may be in the final week of the festival, but shows are still kicking off festival runs. Opening at Chapel Off Chapel tonight:

Rajendra Moodley’s show Is It Because I’m Indian? opens at 7pm.

Following is Showko, who has been involved with family comedy showcase The (very) Big Laugh Out. She opens her adults only show Hell tonight. 8.30pm.

RE-OPENING: And re-opening tonight is Victoria Healy and her show Get In Line. See it tonight and all week, 6pm at The Imperial.

NEW VENUE: On the move to The Imperial is Clem Bastow and her show Escape from LA. See it all week at 7pm.

PODCAST: Improv trio Spark! record another live episode of their podcast How ‘Bout This? 10.15pm tonight at the Imperial.

FREE: It’s back once again tonight – A Young Man Dressed As A Gorilla Dressed As An Old Man Sits Rocking In A Rocking Chair For 55 Minutes And Then Leaves 5. 11.59pm at the Tuxedo Cat.
