Dutch death metallers God Dethroned will release their new album The World Ablaze, worldwide via Metal Blade Records on Friday May 5. To hear the first single, On the Wrong Side of the Wire, visit metalblade.com/goddethroned. The band says, “The World Ablaze is our final album in the WWI trilogy. We aimed to create an album that is very dynamic and diverse. It contains typical GD riffing with loads of melodies and catchy hooks. The songs are perfect for our live shows as they contain many mid-tempo parts combined with faster and more brutal parts. Diversity to the max.”
Hell or Highwater, featuring Atreyu drummer Brandon Saller on lead vocals, have debuted I Want It All, the first song and video from Vista, their upcoming second full-length album and Spinefarm/Caroline Australia debut which will be released on Friday May 19. Hell or Highwater travel in a different lane than Saller’s other band, taking a more melodic approach.
Sweden’s Below will release their new album, Upon A Pale Horse, on Metal Blade on Friday May 19. “With Upon a Pale Horse, we feel that we have found our sound,” the band says. “We have grown as songwriters and this album contains our fastest and slowest, shortest and longest, heaviest and most melodic songs to date. Making this album more diverse yet still staying true to the core of heavy riffs and melodies that is Below.”
German thrash legends Tankard (part of the Big Teutonic 4 with Kreator, Sodom and Destruction) release their beer drenched new album One Foot in the Grave on Friday June 2 via Nuclear Blast. This time, the album is also going to have a serious streak; not only filled with humour but criticising today’s society. Even the traditional beer song Secret Order 1516 displays some critical elements. But don’t worry: fans of the typical Tankard humour won’t be disappointed. With songs like Sole Grinder, the band hasn’t forgotten their raison d’être. This song pays tribute to the band’s manager Buffo Schnädelbach (who vocalist Gerre calls “The funniest choleric person in Germany”) in an ironic way.
Ensiferum are currently in the studio to work on their seventh full-length, once again produced by Anssi Kippo (Children Of Bodom, Impaled Nazarene, Entwine). “For this album, we wanted to catch our live energy on a totally new level with the best possible sound,” bassist Sami Hinkka says. “Every song was played together while recording drums. Most of the bass lines were also taken from those live takes to guarantee the maximum groove.”
Swedish death metallers Evocation have announced Janne Jaloma as their new drummer. Guitarist Marko Palmen says “We are very proud to welcome Janne Jaloma as the new drummer of Evocation. Janne has previously made himself a name in the Gothenburg and UK scenes as a dedicated and hardworking drummer for bands such as Despite, Bloodshot Dawn and Deals Death. His technical skills as well as his groove are pure magic, and the way he plays makes him a perfect fit for Evocation.”
