Geelong’s Smoke Witch have joined forces with Desert Highways for publicity, booking and release. With the band not even together for one year, they’ve already released their debut, recorded another five tracks, and are making plans to head back into the studio on their first anniversary.
Making a pact of formlessness and nothingness, Melbourne’s Hordes of the Black Cross and Adelaide’s Funeral Moon are now armed with a split album. See them at the Bendigo Hotel on Friday March 24 with Eskhaton and Diabolical Demon Director. Then on Saturday March 25, Hollow World rolls in on their Exanimate tour with support from Daemon Pyre and Zeolite.
Australian prog lords Gods Of Eden have joined forces with the largest and longest running metal festival in South East Asia, Philippines Pulp Summerslam, to offer Australian fans a very unique experience. Philippines Pulp Summerslam XVII takes place on Saturday April 29 in Manila and features an incredible lineup including Megadeth, Dragonforce, Whitechapel, Crossfaith and Gods Of Eden. After being added to the 2017 lineup, Gods Of Eden have worked with the festival to bring Australian metal fans the opportunity to travel with them to the Philippines. The legendary Dimmu Borgir emerge from their hiatus with the highly anticipated live DVD Forces Of The Northern Night. It features the entire show performed with Kringkastingsorkestret (the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Choir) as well as their bombastic performance at Wacken Open Air with the National Czech Symphonic Orchestra and an in-depth documentary with behind-the-scenes footage of the massive stage production in Norway. The band is also working on a brand new studio effort. One thing is certain: it won´t be for the faint-hearted.
Perth’s Ohm Rune have just released a 7” flexi double A-Side through Desert Highways, and will be supporting the release with a tour. The tracks are Ether and The Great Dark, and the pressing is limited to 100 on orange vinyl and 150 on blue. Victorian dates with Dr. Colossus are Thursday April 13 at The Loft, Warnambool, Friday April 14 at Old Bar and Saturday April 15 at The Barwon Club.
My Dying Bride have signed with Nuclear Blast to release their 13th doom metal masterpiece. Singer and lyricist Aaron Stainthorpe says, “It is with great pleasure that My Dying Bride can announce they will be joining forces with the formidable Nuclear Blast Records in early 2017 and have already begun working on material for the next LP and singles…We are hoping that this wedding between a very solid label and a well established act will bear fruit of mighty proportions in the exciting years to come.”
Entombed A.D’s legacy goes way back to 1987 when the band originally formed under the name Nihilist. In 1989, the group changed its name to Entombed. They released their first album Back To The Front under the new name in 2014 and followed it up with 2016’s Dead Dawn. Now they’re headed to Australia for a five-date tour which lands at Max Watts on Thursday May 11.
