Meredith announces massive lineup for 33rd edition

Words by staff writer

TV On The Radio, Atarashii Gakko! and Perfume Genius lead stellar December bill.

Meredith Music Festival has unveiled its lineup for the 33rd edition this December.

The independent festival returns to the Supernatural Amphitheatre from 5-7 December with an eclectic mix of international headliners and emerging talent. Meredith Music Festival continues its reputation for curating genre-defying lineups, bringing together art-rock legends TV On The Radio, Japanese sensation Atarashii Gakko! and acclaimed songwriter Perfume Genius as major drawcards for the three-day event.

TV On The Radio will make their debut at the festival, bringing their influential art-rock sound that emerged from Brooklyn’s underground scene in the 2000s. The band’s anthems including Wolf Like Me and Staring At The Sun have defined alternative music for over two decades. Meredith Music Festival also welcomes Japan’s Atarashii Gakko!, whose hyperkinetic performances blend j-pop with acidcore and butoh theatre, creating something entirely unique for Australian audiences.

The lineup spans multiple genres and generations, featuring Men At Work’s Colin Hay making his festival debut alongside Syrian dabke-techno pioneer Omar Souleyman returning for another high-energy performance. Electronic music features prominently with HAAi, RONA. and Wax’o Paradiso providing dancefloor moments throughout the weekend.

Australian talent receives strong representation with Melbourne favourites Folk B*tch Trio, whose debut album arrives perfectly timed for their Meredith appearance. Radio Free Alice, Dr Sure’s Unusual Practice and Mouseatouille showcase the depth of local alternative music, while the Central Australian Aboriginal Women’s Choir brings sacred music sung in Western Arrarnta and Pitjantjatjara languages.

International highlights include Coventry rapper Pa Salieu, Los Angeles soul trio Thee Sacred Souls, and Chicago footwork originator RP Boo. The festival maintains its commitment to diverse programming with acts spanning indie folk (Florist), jazz-funk (Mildlife), house music (Dames Brown) and experimental pop (Saya Gray).

Meredith’s ticket allocation operates through a ballot system designed to distribute access equitably, with the second round closing on 19 August. The festival remains proudly independent with zero commercial sponsors, using ticket sales to support organisations throughout the Golden Plains district.
