Melbourne’s Kult Kyss want to ‘pay homage to early ‘90s dance music’

Kult Kyss

Melbourne electronic duo Kult Kyss are back with new track, ‘So Alive’, produced alongside acclaimed Australian producer LUCIANBLOMKAMP.

Created in the depths of lockdown, vocalist Rromarin and producer Haxx continue to flaunt their wide-ranging electronic influences. ‘So Alive’ is lifted from Kult Kyss’ upcoming debut EP Ultra Sound, set for release in November and also featuring collaborations with the likes of BRUX and Motez.

The duo explain: “‘So Alive’ was born in the midst of the pandemic, at a time when things felt incredibly limited and uncertain. The experience of being in lockdown forced us to shift our perspectives from constantly looking towards the future to living fully in the present.

“‘So Alive’ is inspired by this, and explores the magic and beauty that can be found in living in the moment, day by day. In creating the track we wanted to pay homage to early ‘90s dance music, incorporating dusty sampled breaks with euphoric synths and a simple, mantra-like vocal hook.

“We were also fortunate enough to work with our friend LUCIANBLOMKAMP (who has produced for Khalid & US-rapper 6LACK) on additional production, who brought his signature gritty 2-step sound to the track.”

The pair’s recent releases ‘Kill That Beat’ and ‘God Is A Bassline’ saw high rotation on triple j Unearthed, earning support from Spotify with editorial placements in New Music Friday, New Dance Beats and Top Shelf Electronic.

This past year, Kult Kyss also supported Running Touch at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, performing live at Meadow Music Festival and joining Motez on triple j’s Mix Up.

Their new single comes out September 10th on Risqué
