City-wide vinyl synchronisation kicks off the longest night with a celebration of local music and warmth.
Melbourne is leaning into its winter soul this year with a unique city-wide music moment. On Sunday 21 June, nine of the city’s best listening bars will simultaneously hit play at 6:24pm — the exact moment the Winter Solstice begins — for a shared hour of Victorian vinyl curated by Northside Records’ Chris Gill.
This special Pin Drop event forms a key part of Visit Victoria’s Every bit different campaign, highlighting how the city embraces the colder months through culture, music and hospitality. It’s a love letter to Melbourne’s status as the vinyl capital of the world, with more record stores per capita than anywhere else.
Bars taking part:
- Baby Driver, Melbourne CBD
- Bahama Gold, Brunswick East
- Bar Selecta, Hawthorn
- Common Cuts, CBD
- Disuko, Melbourne CBD
- HER (music room), Melbourne CBD
- Hope St Radio, Collingwood
- LB’s Record Bar, Melbourne CBD
- Studio Amaro, Windsor

Participating venues include Baby Driver, Bahama Gold, Bar Selecta, Common Cuts, Disuko, HER Music Room, Hope St Radio, LB’s Record Bar and Studio Amaro. Each spot will host special activations, giveaways and winter offers, including tickets to Lightscape at the Royal Botanic Gardens, the NGV’s Cartier exhibition and more.
The night showcases a strong selection of Victorian talent including Golden Child, Kanana, Glass Beams and Surprise Chef. It celebrates the rise of Melbourne’s listening bar scene, from new players like Baby Driver and LB’s Record Bar to established favourites such as Hope St Radio and Bahama Gold.
Visit Victoria CEO Brendan McClements said the initiative proves why Melbourne stands out in winter. “This collaboration showcases why Melbourne is unmatched in Winter – where culture, music and hospitality come together to create moments that are hard to find anywhere else.”
In a city that thrives on shared experiences, this synchronised pin drop offers a beautiful antidote to winter isolation. It’s a chance to rug up, head out with friends and soak in the warmth of local music and great venues. Whether you’re a vinyl obsessive or just after a memorable winter night, Melbourne’s listening bars are ready to deliver.
