As a premier venue in a city built on music, it’s no surprise that Melbourne Recital Centre is building its own roster of virtuosic talent. This October, it’s offering audiences the chance to catch a plethora of world-renowned musicians grace the stage and leave their mark on the venue and on the city.

Eliza Hull

Nothing can stop Eliza Hull. Musician, journalist and a prominent disability advocate, Eliza is gearing up for a very special show this October. The intimate acoustics of Melbourne Recital Centre’s Primrose Potter Salon is welcoming Eliza’s soulful voice and eloquent songwriting, and you’re invited.

Not only will ticket holders be able to see to this stalwart of songwriting and musical genius in the flesh, but they will also have the unique opportunity to hear the musician’s upcoming album before she’s even recorded it. Don’t miss your chance to see Eliza Hull at her most intimate.

Like a match made in heaven, Melbourne Recital Centre is joining up with Melbourne Fringe this October. Together, the pair are presenting one of the most exciting, captivating and challenging performances on the Fringe festival circuit this season.

Girl’s Notes is an exploration of gender norms and the role of women within society, within relationships and within their own bodies. Performed by artist and dancer Su Pin-Wen, alongside pianist Lin Mai-Ke, the show will be a blend of performance art and contemporary.

The thought-provoking performance sees the artists draw inspiration from a Taiwanese book from the 90s that details instructions on women’s behaviour. This bold show is an unmissable event in both the Fringe and the Recital Centre calendars this month.

Xani Kolac – Melbourne International Jaz Festival

Jazz is taking over the Recital Centre this October as part of Melbourne International Jazz Festival. What’s more, the trailblazing violinist and composer that is Xani Kolac is leading the charge. Premiering her latest work, Stamina, the musician welcomes audiences into a quadraphonic sound experience like no other.

The piece is centred around an exploration of the inner workings of the human body. Xani’s shows have a way of immersing her audiences in an all-consuming atmosphere of transcendental music, showcasing both her musical skill and her ability to intertwine her listeners into a world of her creation. The internationally celebrated Japanese pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii is making a very special debut this October. Melbourne Recital Centre is offering Melburnians the first-ever opportunity to see this virtuoso play in our city.

Blind from birth, Nobu’s artistry on the piano exemplifies the captivating power of music and its role as a universal language. Lucky ticket holders will not only get to catch this masterclass in classical music in the beautiful Elisabeth Murdoch Hall, but will also be invited to join Nobu and Melbourne Recital Centre’s Director of Programming, Marshall McGuire for a post-concert talk in the venue’s foyer for a discussion about Nobu’s career, his craft and more.

Join the Goldner String Quartet in the Primrose Potter Salon this October for what will be a farewell for the ages. After over 30 years of exquisite music, international touring and dear friendships, The Goldners are wrapping things up.

This special Recital Centre show will be their last Melbourne performance together. The Goldners are curating a unique send-off show for this bittersweet farewell, making it an unmissable event for Goldners fans everywhere.

The show will include musical tributes, favourite string moments from history, and an Australian premiere of a recently composed work. This show will be both a treasured reflection of their time together and, ultimately, a heartfelt goodbye to Melbourne audiences.
