There’s a free weekly country music residency coming to Brunswick

The Broken Hills have quietly set up shop in Brunswick Ballroom's downstairs bar with a free weekly country music residency.

The band are the Ballroom’s own house band, and they’ve taken on a permanent spot at Brunswick Artists’ Bar with sessions running every week from 5:45pm through to 7:30pm. The Broken Hills play originals alongside covers from the likes of Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, George Jones and The Rolling Stones.

The setlist ranges from acoustic ballads to country-rock standards, all played out across nearly two hours of live music in the compact downstairs room.

The Broken Hills at Brunswick Artists’ Bar

  • Brunswick Artists’ Bar (Brunswick Ballroom), 314–316 Sydney Rd, Brunswick
  • Every week, 5:45pm – 7:30pm
  • Free entry (RSVP via Moshtix)

Stay up to date with what’s happening in and around Melbourne here.

Entry is completely free, with RSVPs available through Moshtix. The bar opens from 5pm each week, leaving time to get a drink sorted before The Broken Hills kick things off at quarter to six. Because the residency runs as a permanent fixture in the Artists’ Bar programming, there’s no pressure to lock in a particular date.

Brunswick Artists’ Bar is the smaller room sitting underneath the main Brunswick Ballroom on Sydney Road. It operates as its own separate space with its own bar and a more compact capacity than the venue upstairs.

The Broken Hills’ permanent weekly slot gives the room a regular country anchor, and the after-work time slot lines up pretty well for anyone already in the neighbourhood or passing through Brunswick on the way home.
