Words by Staff Writer

Melbourne Nocturnal Film Festival (MNFF) is an annual festival celebrating weird and wonderfully offbeat films, created by Australian filmmakers.

In collaboration with Sleepless Footscray Festival, MNFF 2024 presents three days of film screenings and events right in the heart of Footscray from May 3 – 5.  For this second iteration, MNFF is transforming the iconic Bluestone Church Arts Space into a film festival hub.

Melbourne Nocturnal Film Festival (MNFF)

  • Friday May 3, 7pm – Love Bites (Opening Night)
  • Saturday May 4, 5pm – Kaleidoscope. 8pm – The Horrors
  • Sunday May 5 – 4.30pm – Workshop: Light Painting Photography. 6pm – Funny Weird (Closing Night)

Find Melbourne’s latest film, TV, literature and gaming news here.

The 2024 programme features 28 shorts films in four curated screening sessions, along with filmmaker Q&As, a special photography workshop, and a closing night awards ceremony.

Explore heartbreak, humour and horror at Love Bites, get spooked at The Horrors, laugh manically with unhinged comedy shorts at Funny Weird, or explore a spectrum of Australian cinema at Kaleidoscope. Tickets for all screenings are on sale now, only $13 each.

All short films are in competition for Best Short Film and Audience Choice Award. Nominees will be notified. Winners are announced after the closing night screening. Winners receive an award trophy and prizes from our sponsors. All events take place at Bluestone Church Arts Space, located at 8A Hyde Street, Footscray. There is a licensed bar at the venue. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
