Melbourne music collective Worker & Parasite reveal fuzzed-out new single, ‘Manifest Destiny’

They’ll launch the single at Cactus Room next Friday.

Naarm/Melbourne-based music collective Worker & Parasite have released a new single, ‘Manifest Destiny’, along with an accompanying film clip.

Recorded earlier this year, the track marks Worker & Parasite’s third single, following their 2020 debut ‘Crisis’ and sophomore single ‘Realpolitik’.

Keep up to date with all the latest music interviews, news and reviews here.

‘Manifest Destiny’ imagines a post-capitalist world in which society is free of “unclean entities” and everyone lives in perfect harmony. The chorus declares it is up to us to manifest this destiny.

Sonically, the track kicks off with a funk-fuelled bassline, shimmering synth and rhythmic vocal delivery, worming its way into your ears with a repetitive formula.

But just when you think you’ve got your handle on the track, it spins out of control, introducing robotic chanting and fuzzed-out guitars as it disintegrates into utter chaos.

Worker & Parasite will launch ‘Manifest Destiny’ at Cactus Room on Friday August 13 to a sold-out crowd.
