The initiative offered aspiring artists a chance to break into the music industry, with a career-making prize including two days of recording at Sing Sing Studios, a video clip by film maker Wilk, live gigs, album artwork and 500 CDs, PR and marketing advice and the chance to have their song used in a Bank of Melbourne advertising campaign.

After being inundated with hundreds of song submissions from Victorian music artists, narrowing down the field to 13 finalists, thousands of Victorians voted for their favourite songs, resulting in four semi-finalists; Heloise, Selki, NY and Under The Arch.

The four performed their songs at the Melbourne Music Bank finale at the Melbourne Recital Centre. An expert panel – comprised of campaign Ambassador Ella Hooper, Bank of Melbourne Head of Brand and Marketing Jac Phillips, Beat Editor Cara Williams, PBS Music Director Chelsea Wilson and Melbourne Recital Centre Director of Programming Kirsten Siddle – named Heloise and her song, This Is Home, the 2014 winner.

Oakleigh hip hop artist, NY, was named runner up in a very close contest. NY was awarded $500 and a surprise prize of two days recording at Sing Sing studios for his song Your City.
